In 2009, life changed Julie Goodwin when she won the first-ever season of Masterchef Australia, defeating runner-up Poh Ling Yeow (view her Chef Spotlight here).
Since her win, the mother of three has gone on to a successful career comprising cooking shows, cook books and even the release of a Christmas album that reflected her other passion: singing.
Julie Goodwin has had a number of television appearances besides her participation and victory on Masterchef Australia back in 2009. Since winning, Goodwin has had appearances on shows such as The 7PM Project (now known as The Project) and a regular weekly cooking segment on Channel 9's Today from 2010 to 2014. She also returned as a contestant in Masterchef Allstars back in 2010.
Goodwin has also written a number of books that focus on creating delicious and simple meals. Her first book was called Our Family Table and was released back in 2010 after her Masterchef win. The book comprised a host of recipes, including her own creations, ones handed down through the family, recipes from friends, and adapted versions of some meals she made while on Masterchef.
Other cook books have included Heart of the Home, Gather and, more recently, 20/20 Meals, which was released in November last year. A new cook book by Goodwin is set for release next month (October 2015).
Goodwin also has an ongoing column in the Australian Women's Weekly.
Along with TV appearances and a constant flow of books and magazine columns, Goodwin's own website is packed full of recipes and updates on what she's up to. This year, Goodwin officially launched Julie's Place in North Gosford, which hosts cooking classes, events (e.g. Christmas lunches/dinners), coporate team building events, catering, etc.
Another of Goodwin's passions is singing. In 2010, she released a CD of Christmas songs and recipes through Woolworths.
