Donna Hay has been an institution in Australia's culinary world for years.
At the age of eight, Donna's love affair with food began. With a key focus on creating simple, healthy and delicious dishes, she began her career as a food writer and stylist at 19. Her drive and talent led to her being appointed as food editor of Marie Claire at 25 (this was followed shortly by her becoming food editor of Marie Claire Lifestyle, too).
Then, in 2001, Donna entered into the fray of food magazines herself with the release of Donna Hay Magazine (stylised donna hay magazine). The magazine continues to be one of the most popular food-centric magazines in Australia, as well as boasting subscribers across 82 countries. According the Donna Hay website, Donna Hay Magazine is the highest-selling magazine on the Australian Apple App store.
Donna's popularity as a food stylist has earned her time on TV, first in 2011 with her own TV series titled Fast, Fresh, Simple (stylised fast, fresh, simple) for the LifeStyle Channel. The show went on to air in more than 17 countries across the globe. She also had her own Christmas special in December 2013 (a donna hay Christmas), which was produced exclusively for Foxtel.
Donna Hay has also had a recurring role on Network Ten's Masterchef as a guest judge, and contestants have also had to tackle her recipes, including her baked cheesecake during series 3.
Homeware and food range
In 2011, Donna entered into the file of homeware, developing a range with Royal Doulton that continues to be available now. She also has The Donna Hay Home Baking Mix range (this includes cookies, brownies, cupcake baking kits comprising natural ingredients). The range also accounts for baking accessories. You can find her Baking range in major supermarkets such as Woolworths.
Of course, given her ambition, Donna also launched the donna hay general store in 2009, which exist as both brick-and-mortar stores and an extensive online store front.
