Slow Cooked Apple Glazed BBQ Pork Spare Ribs

What you’ll need

 2 Racks SunPork Pork Spare Ribs
 ½ cup dark brown sugar
 4 tsp. garlic salt
 4 tsp. chilli powder
 2 tsp. salt
 1 tsp. ground black pepper
 ½ tsp. celery salt
 ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper
 ¼ tsp. cinnamon
 ¼ tsp. white pepper
 ½ cup apple cider
 ¼ cup apple sauce
 ¼ cup honey
 1 cup BBQ sauce

How to make it

  1. Pre-heat fan forced oven to 160°C.
  2. In a bowl, combine garlic salt, chilli powder, salt, black pepper, celery salt, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, white pepper and ¼ cup of the brown sugar.
  3. Transfer 1 Tbsp. of the spice mix to a medium bowl and whisk in the cider, apple sauce, honey and the remaining ¼ cup of brown sugar.
  4. Line an oven tray with baking paper. Rub the SunPork Pork Spare Ribs with remaining dry spice mixture and lay on the tray bone side down.
  5. Place in the oven for 2 ½ hrs.
  6. Pour cider mixture over the SunPork Pork Spare Ribs; turn to coat, cover with foil and return to the oven for 1 hr.
  7. Uncover the SunPork Pork Spare Ribs and brush with BBQ sauce. Return to the oven for 15 mins, basting with sauce in 5 min intervals.
  8. Remove from the oven, slice between the bones and enjoy!
